CMS TRACK TEAM POLICY HIGHLIGHTS
(Check out the documents at the bottom of this page for further information)
Physical/Fees/Personal Information Sheets
Physical- athlete must have a physical completed by an authorized physician in order to practice. The physical must be signed by the physician, parent, and athlete and submitted to a coach prior to the first day of practice. The athlete cannot come to practice without a physical.
Fees- athletes must pay the $50 athletic fee.
Personal Information Sheet- athletes must submit the Team Policy and Emergency Form to a coach signed by a guardian in order to attend a Track Meet as part of the team.
Sweats & Meet Jerseys- athletes will be checked out a sweat top and bottom the first day of practice. The coaches do the best they can to provide athletes with sweats that fit. Track Meet jerseys and shorts are checked out to the athletes a few days prior to the first Track Meet. If an athlete decides to wear an undergarment such as another shirt or athletic tights they must also be one solid color. School issued equipment must be turned in at the end of the season, otherwise it is a $50 replacement fee.
Practice Attire- athletes must wear a shirt with sleeves while at practice. Athletes will not be allowed to wear sport bras only or go shirtless. The workout wear must be appropriate.
Jewelry- KSHSAA is very strict on jewelry. Jewelry is not allowed during competition. Since this is a state policy CMS is going to adopt this policy at practice in order to create the habit. However, there are always exceptions...
**Medical bracelets, watches, religious medals (must be taped to the body), and hair holders (cannot be metal or hard plastic and must serve a purpose) are okay for competition and practice.**
Unexcused- 1) absent from practice when the athlete was AT school and does not provide accountability for their whereabouts. 2) athlete is at practice, but forgets essential items that does not allow he/she to practice...this includes sweats and proper attire.
Examples are (but not limited to): no doctor note, no parent contact, forgets running shoes, no note for being late to practice, etc...
Excused- 1) absent from practice due to being absent from school. 2) Absent from practice or late, but provides proper documentation/contact information to confirm accountability.
**Athletes must have 9 practices in order to fully compete in a Track Meet to ensure proper conditioning and skill development.
**Coaches will keep acount of this everyday.
Results of Unexcused Absences
1 UE Absence = athlete may only participate in one event at the next meet
2 UE Absences = athlete will miss the next meet
3 UE Absences = athlete will be dismissed from the team
Examples are (but not limited to): offensive language, displays of affection, defiance toward a coach, violence, etc...

2nd- athlete will not be allowed to attend the next Track Meet due to the chance of embarrassing the school, family, and themselves.
3rd- athlete will be dismissed from the team.
